If I were to sum the two up at the moment it would be this: Phoenix knocks spots off both programs for usability. channels in realflight, gains in AccuRC). I should be able to make decisions during setup on which functions I want to run from my own TX (eg. Both programs could benefit from a good setup wizard for this, one that clearly defines which channels are needed, and how you configure them.

Interface wise AccuRC is prettier, but both have a steep learning curve, especially for getting your transmitter connected. AccuRC feels much more realistic, and you can judge it much more easily and fly a far more accurate figure 8 with nice even circles. Doing a vertical figure-8 it's very hard to get a good feel for your height or speed in Realflight. There is a downside to the Realflight camera though, and that is that I find height much easier to judge in AccuRC. Otherwise it's very gentle, and I think it's that gentle progressive effect that makes it feel so much like a real flying field. My gut feeling is that the zoom in Realflight is a little slower or smoother, it only seems to speed up if the helicopter gets to the edge of the screen.

For some reason the AccuRC ground in view camera feels a bit jerky to me and it actually makes me travel sick. I love how the model gets small as it's further away, that's something you need to learn to handle if it happens in real life, and it's very smooth too. What really surprised me was the camera, the default ground in view is superb, far better than any other sim I've flown. Despite the flying being a bit sim like, the overall experience is excellent. The details at the location, and the interactive objects (grass, fences, tables), the lighting and reflections, and definitely the camera. My gut feeling is that this is a combination of a broad number of elements which all work together. Somehow it draws you in, and it 'feels' very much like you're at a real flying field. However when it comes down to the flying experience and realism I'm finding that at the moment I really prefer Realflight. The stock 600N in version 1.6 is a joy to fly. AccuRC definitely models this a lot better.Īnd when you fly nitro as I do, AccuRC models engine load far, far better. There are certainly some clear differences between the two, some of which are surprising to me.įirstly I find AccuRC far better in terms of flying feel, Realflight is far too easy for a lot of complex moves, I can sit on the deck doing piro flips in Realflight which is something I can't do in real life. I had my first experience of Realflight 7.5 this week, and it's been very interesting trying that after AccuRC.
